Preface

Occupations Requiring a License in North Carolina has been prepared as a reference for students, job seekers, teachers, career counselors and others interested in information to aid in career decision-making. This information will also serve as a guide for individuals licensed in other states who plan to move or have moved to North Carolina to practice through reciprocity, endorsement or comity. The occupations selected were derived from sources such as professional associations, licensing boards and the general statutes from the North Carolina General Assembly; nevertheless, the occupations listed are not all inclusive. The contents cover occupations, job duties, licensing board contact information, Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) codes, titles and definitions. The licensing board’s website provides the most up-to-date requirements for minimum education, experience and examinations. This reference provides the web link, address and telephone number for each licensing board.
